Tai Chi Chuan & Chi Kung Fuerteventura

Tai Chi & Chi Kung Wellbeing Retreat Holiday in Fuerteventura

Our  Villa Azul  Retreat  in Fuerteventura is more than a Holiday, we was born in April 2011, to create a truly Healthy Way To Holiday here in Fuerteventura. Of course you will have the Sun, Beautiful Beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean but also something else.

We offer you something very special for your holiday and also for your future joy and wellbeing.

Here at our  retreat we will help you learn how to improve your health, both in body mind and spirit. We trust that you will return home after your healthy holiday with a new perception of living and feeling your life.
Together we will play, learn, laugh and grow. We practice the Tai Chi Chuan Yang Shao Hou style, our form has 108 movement but we split it into three parts to learn it better.

Why Not Get Started With Tai Chi Now?

You will be amazed how the practice of Tai Chi, transforms Our Lives!!

  1. I had gone to the Tai Chi Wellbeing Retreat to escape the devastating storms and floods which were battering my home county in the south of England. So suddenly finding myself performing the ancient Chinese energy practice in the spectacular sand dunes of a tranquil island, was somewhat surreal.
With the crashing waves of the Atlantic ocean, the cool, refreshing Fuerteventuran winds and the stunning scenery of the Corralejo natural park as a back drop I could have been a million miles away from home.
And with the truly inspirational Paco Borges as my instructor for a week of intensive Tai Chi Chuan, combined with nourishing home-cooked vegetarian food and an atmosphere of calm and relaxation at the beachside retreat, I was soon well on the way to restoring my equilibrium.
I knew that tai chi was essentially a martial art and I was prepared for that. But there are many different styles now practiced in the west and some of Paco's students are surprised at first that they are not learning the gentle, slow -motion form often seen being performed by elderly people in public parks and gardens.
Before you get to that stage, says Paco, you have to learn what he calls the "gymnastics" - a series of strong movements using the merging of body and mind to improve flexibility and balance.
His teaching accommodates all levels of ability, fitness and age and he tells me that at 73 -years- old I am "just a baby". Yes, he also has a great sense of humour! That, together with his passion for the practice and his joy in the beauty of nature, especially that of his beloved native island, are infectious and laughter seems to be as much a part of the lessons as the challenging stretches, breathing techniques and meditative postures.
The holiday is billed as a healthy alternative and - with the therapeutic massage, swimming, surfing, beach walking all easily accessible - that is certainly the case.
But for Paco it is the practice of tai chi which he is dedicated to promoting as a medicine for a healthier, happier, more balanced life.
And for me, I returned home feeling all of those benefits and ready to put into practice everything I had learned. The storms had subsided and the word "stress" was no longer in my vocabulary.
